Interferometric imaging of intensely radiating negative leaders

چکیده
The common phenomenon of lightning still harbors many secrets and only recently a new propagation mode was observed for negative leaders. While propagating in this ``intensely radiating leader'' (IRNL) leader emits 100 times more very-high frequency (VHF) broadband radiation than normal leader. We have reported that occurs soon after initiation all flashes we mapped as well sometimes long thereafter. Because the profuse emission VHF structure is very difficult to image. In work report on measurements made with LOFAR radio telescope, an instrument primarily built radio-astronomy observations. For reason, part present work, refined our time resolved interferometric 3-dimensional (TRI-D) imaging take into account antenna function. images from TRI-D imager show during IRNL there ionization front diameter excess 500 m where strong corona bursts occur. This different what seen happen at tip, area typically 10 diameter. massive wave supports idea indicative dense charge pocket.

Imaging lightning intracloud initial stepped leaders by low-frequency interferometric lightning mapping array
By comparing the source position of pulses during initial leaders and the paths of subsequent dart leaders from typical bilevel intracloud (IC) flashes, we demonstrate a new method to image the detailed three-dimensional (3-D) structure and stepping dynamics of IC initial leaders. Using this approach, we show that nearly half of the initial breakdown pulses are not involved in the main channel ...
متن کاملApplications of diffusion weighted imaging in detection of radiating pain to lower extremities
Introduction: To examine the hypothesis that diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) in lumbosacral region could reveal sciatic nerve course swelling that lead to lower extremity pain. The aim of present article was to find and evaluate the diffusion weighted coefficients (b-values) for scrutinizing sciatic nerve tract changes in lumbosacral region. Materials and methods: Lumbar area was imaged in 30...

Coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) processes are "coherent," but the phase of the anti-Stokes radiation is lost by most incoherent spectroscopic CARS measurements. We propose a Raman microscopy imaging method called nonlinear interferometric vibrational imaging, which measures Raman spectra by obtaining the temporal anti-Stokes signal through nonlinear interferometry. With a more comp...

Claerbout’s daylight imaging concept is generalized to the general theory of interferometric seismic imaging (II). Interferometric seismic imaging is defined to be any algorithm that inverts crosscorrelated seismic data for the reflectivity or source distribution. As examples, we show that II can be used to image reflectivity distributions by migrating ghost reflections in passive seismic data,...

Common-path in-line shearing interferometry, combined with pixel-array imaging, provides a surface metrology that achieves 15 pm surface height resolution. An eighth-wave thermal oxide on silicon generates a reference wave locked in the condition of phase quadrature for phase-to-intensity conversion that makes surface height or index variations directly detectable by an imaging system. The scal...
